Bonpas Grande Réserve des Challiéres 2020 Ventoux - Rhône Valley

Cépages: 65% Grenache Noir - 30% Syrah - 5% Carignan

Tasting Notes: Deep purple.  Highly expressive and charming, featuring ripe fruit aromas elegantly intertwined with delicate spice notes. Hints of strawberry and cherry add a touch of freshness and finesse to the ensemble.  Full-bodied and silky, with fleshy tannins and a refined structure. The whole evolves gracefully towards a firm, persistent finish, highlighted by expressive hints of thyme and garrigue.  Drink now–2030.

From The Winery: Since 1318, the fortified stronghold of Bonpas, from the French "Bon Passage", has watched over the safe crossing of the Durance river along the historic route that once linked Rome with Avignon. This gateway to the southern Côtes-du-Rhône allows you to discover the region’s terroirs with their characteristic smooth and round stones.

Certified in 1973, the Ventoux appellation is named after the Mount Ventoux mountain (1 912 m alt.), also called ‘the giant of Provence’ and famous around the world thanks to the  cycling Tour de France. Classified as a ‘biosphere reserve’ by UNESCO in 1990, the Mont Ventoux site serves as a setting for terroirs worked with respect for nature and the cultural and historical heritage of the region.
The vineyard is grown on gentle slopes and covers around 50 villages and more than 7,500 Ha. The grapes benefit from one of the coolest micro-climates in the southern Rhône Valley, Influenced by altitude. The alternation of sunny days and cool nights produces fresh, well-balanced wines.

Our selection of vineyards includes Miocene safres (compressed sans) and large alluvial terraces favorable to produce fresh and very aromatic Grenache.
