Tasting Notes: This rich blend has aromas of raspberries, violets, wet earth, cream, chamomile, and hints of nutmeg. Concentrated and full on the palate with savory flavors of ripe black cherries, black plum, black tea, and caramel with hints of allspice. A velvety mouthfeel with soft tannins and balanced acidity focuses the long finish.
Aging: 10 months in all French Oak barrels (25% new).
Winemaker Notes: This wine is a blend from five vineyards, Handley Winery Estate (50%), RSM Estate Vineyard (2.1%), Helluva Vineyard (37.5%), Elke Vineyard (2.1%), and Koski-Coulson Vineyard (8.3%) and is made from a mix of clones including Dijon 115, Dijon 777, Pommard, Martini, Wadenswil, and Roederer. The vineyards span from the warmer reaches near Boonville to the cooler area of Comptche. Fruit sourced from these geographically diverse locations adds complexity to this wine. Consecutive years of drought and the warm dry vintage limited yields but provided ripe concentrated fruit characters.
