94 Points Wine Spectator:"Like biting into a ripe cherry, augmented by rose & stone notes. This red is juicy & harmonious."
Tasting Notes: Initial flavors offer a sensuous blend of dry cherry, raspberry, and truffle which leads to a memorable finish that includes baking spices such as cardamom. The finish displays deftly balanced oak and plush tannins for longer term aging. This sublime wine will be a show-stopper (after decanting prior to 2023) through 2028.
From The Winery: Domaine Marius Delarche is a not-so-well-known name that occupies a small slice of the very famous hill of Corton. Established in the 1940s, the estate is now operated by Etienne Delarche, farming some 9 hectares in the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. The estate has been called, by a wine importer, "Certainly the Côte de Beaune’s best-kept secret—gorgeous wines made by an honest winemaker for prices that reminded of decades past."
Aging: Pinot Noir grapes are destemmed and fermented and indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Wines are aged in French oak barrels, with no more than 30% new wood, for 12 to 15 months.
Farming & Winemaking: Vines are cared for as closely to organic principles as possible, but the estate is not certified. All grapes are harvested by hand.
