95 Points Wine Enthusiast:"This seductive wine is one of the first releases from Dan Kosta's new winery. It packs a flavor punch while staying balanced and appetizing. Deep, rich black-fruit flavors and a warm, generous mouthfeel make a great combination in this full-bodied, ripe-tasting and moderately tannic wine. Best from 2025-2032."
95 Points Decanter:"Dan Kosta's Convene label launched in 2019. This Pinot Noir comes from Campbell Ranch and Umino vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. It is aged 10 months in 30% new French oak. Superbly aromatic, giving off conifer and pine with dark berry fruits, blood orange, dusty minerals, and wonderfully rich, warm Asian spices with hints of mocha. Seductive and supple on the palate with tremendous lift and freshness, which comes from a flashy thread of salinity in the wine. Dense, juicy, layered candied cherry fruit and blood orange notes are laced with those Asian spices. The tannins are plush and finely knit together, and the finish is long, earthy, and refreshing. During my tasting, winemaker Shane Finley reflected on what separates Convene from the days of Kosta Browne, and he said, 'The evolution of our winemaking is reflective of our own personal growth and personal tastes. Inherently, this can't be 'Kosta Browne part two' because we're growing. The older you get, the wiser you get.' For Dan Kosta, he says, 'It's not one or two things, it's hundreds of things. You have to look at the manifestation of the end product. I want these wines to be more than just delicious; I want tension and structure, and I think we've arrived."
