Winemaker: Angelina Mondavi
Farmer: Jim Barbour
Variety: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Appellation: Howell Mountain, Napa Valley
Vineyard: Cold Springs Vineyard
Tasting Notes: On the nose, the wine offers an enticing bouquet of purple floral notes of lilac, black and pink peppercorn, blueberry, blackberry, black cherry, and black currant. Subtle hints of tobacco leaf, freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, freshly ground black pepper, clove, nutmeg, freshly baked blackberry pie, with a touch of pine and Tahitian vanilla to add to its complexity; Palate: juicy and plush tannins that are silky and balanced with beautiful acidity. The creaminess and weight of freshly baked mixed blackberry pie lingers on the palate for one of the longest finishes we have seen yet, creating a luscious, velvety texture. The flavors of freshly picked blackberry, clove, nutmeg, a hint of cedar, and freshly rolled cigar leaf dance on the tongue.
